Alessandra Graziottin, MD

Dr. Graziottin is currently Director of the “Center of Gynecology and Medical Sexology", at the H. San Raffaele Resnati, Milano, Italy. She is Consultant Professor, Specialty School of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Florence and at the University of Parma, Italy. She is also Co-Director of the Postgraduate Course in Medical Sexology for Gynecologists at the University of Florence, Italy.

She received her medical degree at the University of Padova where she specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Oncology. Since completing a five years training in psychotherapy, she is a certified Psychoterapist by the Italian Medical Board.

Dr Graziottin has published more than 200 papers, 10 books, and more than 40 chapters of books on female medical sexology, adolescent’s sexuality, gender disorders, enuresis, drugs and sexuality, and menopause, plus seven educational booklets on different aspects of contraception, menopause and dyspareunia.

She is currently member of the Editorial Board of Maturitas, Journal of Men’s Health and Gender, Current Sexual Health Reports and referee of the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy, Climacteric, Maturitas, Journal of Sexual Medicine, and Journal of Gynecological Endocrinology.

After serving on the Board of the Italian Menopause Society for four years (1997-2001), as Vicepresident of the Female Sexual Function Forum (FSFF) (2000-2001), and as President of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH (2001-2002), she is currently member of the Board of the Italian Society of Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISPOG) (2001-, of the Italian Menopause Project (IMP) (1999-), of the European Society of Menopause and Andropause (EMAS) (2000-, second term), of Italian Society of Gynecology of the Elderly (S.I.G.I.T.E.) (2003-) and of the International Society for Sexuality and Cancer (ISSC) (2003-).

In June 2004 she was awarded with the Honorary Membership of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada.

Frequently invited to International Meetings as a leading expert and teacher in Female Medical Sexology and Menopause, she has given more than 560 lectures at international, world and national meetings. In October 1998 she participated as member of the Board of the First International Consensus Conference on Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD), held in Boston. In 2003 she has been as well member of the Second International Consensus Conference on FSD.
