Women’s Sexual Health Journal
The January issue of the Women's Sexual Health Journal features a personal story from a woman who has struggled with the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of her life since her hysterectomy and removal of cervix and both ovaries. She expresses her frustration of having no sexual desire or sensation since her surgery. Also, there is an in depth Question and Answer section on hysterectomy and removal of ovaries.
The Sexual Medicine articles were submitted by Cynthia C. Morton, PhD, Allison M. Lynch, BS, and Priya Somasundaram, MBBS on Quality of Life with Uterine Fibroids ? A Woman?s Perspective, and William Parker, MD on the topic of Ovarian Conservation.
Also the 2006 Female Sexual Dysfunction and Health Continuing Medical Education Course which was co-sponsored by The Women?s Sexual Health Foundation and the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Urology Department was summarized by Jillian L. Capodice, MS, L.Ac and Ridwan Shabsigh, MD.
Dr. Morton also summarizes her current research at the Center for Uterine Fibroids concerning fibroids and sisters. Currently, The Center for Uterine Fibroids at Brigham and Women?s Hospital seeks participants for a study to identify the causes of uterine fibroid tumors. They are looking for families in which two sisters have (or have had) uterine fibroids. The study involves filling out two surveys and giving a blood sample, all of which can be done by mail at no cost to you. Please join us in our efforts to search for the causes of uterine fibroids and help future generations of women. For more information, call the Center at 1-800-722-5520 (ask operator for 525-4434), e-mail them at fibroids@rics.bwh.harvard.edu, or visit our web site: www.fibroids.net.
